The competition on 26th August was for the Evans Halshaw Trophy and a very good afternoon it was for the winner, Roy Thomas. Roy was in excellent form all afternoon as was his opponent in the final Alan Hinton; but Roy triumphed in the shower that hit the final to become the third winner of our shirt sponsor's cup. Well bowled Roy, and thanks to all who entered for a very enjoyable afternoon!

Fabulous result on Friday 26th August for our Wombourne Ladies Maureen Ellis and Sue Heap who played in the final leg of the Dudley Bowls League Ladies Doubles, they took the semi final 18 -8 and triumphed in the final 18-16 to bring home the trophy. Well done both,

The first mixed-doubles "Excuse Me" competition was played on the 10th July in some appropriately mixed weather! With the junior county match being played and attracting a few of our Sunday comp regulars, numbers were low but neither that nor the showers dampened our players' enthusiasm. Played as an American rather than the scheduled knock-out, it was a tight finish with runners up Celia Elwell/ Colin Yates finishing on 37pts pipped by the winners Debbie Tudor/ Chris Hayward on 39. Well bowled to them and to Vicky/ Shaun and Carol/ Alan for making it a good afternoon!

Meanwhile we also played a 4-man singles American; well done to Tom Burch for taking maximum points to win from Jason, Ken and Brian. Well bowled all!

Our Bilston League "A" Team travelled to Blackpool on the 17th July for the Bilston League Knock-out Cup finals at the famous Waterloo! Andy Warr's team faced the formidable Stile (winners for the last 9 years) in the semi- finals, Unfortunately, we dipped out in the semi- final to Stile, but we had a good go! Well done to our 3 winners (Alan G, Debbie and Jacky P), some close losers too, particularly Connah who just fell short 20-21.

The first American competition, the Bob Whitehouse memorial, was played for Sunday 17th April in lovely spring weather. Seven couples participated and for the first time, we tried a timed event with each match limited to 20 mins and then the number of wins per pair determining the winner. In the event of a tie, the result between the tied teams counted. The afternoon was a great success; congratulations to Bill Baugh and Vicky Cooper who took the trophy having won 5 out of 6 matches played! Well bowled all...

A splendid turnout on Sunday 3rd April for the Sadlers Cup, it may have been the fine weather or maybe the need for practice as the season is upon us that caused the crowds to flock in.
The final saw John Stokes and Barbara Evanson take on John Melia and Brian Harman. John and Brian took an early lead however John and Barbara crept up and took the trophy for a very close finish 21 -18. An enjoyable afternoon.

Happy Easter! The first Sunday competition of the season was today's Easter Egg with 7 pairs dodging the blustery showers in pursuit of chocolate and glory (but mainly chocolate!). Losing semi-finalists Lynn Flavell/ Alan Hinton, and Roland Heap/ David Farquharson took the smaller eggs, leaving defending holders of the black boobies trophy Ben Fieldhouse/ Chris Hayward to fight off the challenge of Pat Bell and Jason Tudor in the final. Pat and Jason started okay, but Ben and Chris were not to be moved and streaked away to a big lead which they never surrendered. Well done Ben and Chris for keeping your hands on the prize and taking the top eggs too!
